American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 am–3 pm. Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Austin is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wow. I have been seriously missing out. How have I ignored such an amazing bagel shop, 3 minutes from my home?!? First of all, very chill and warm atmosphere. VERY FAST service. Bang for your buck. Oozing with Keep Austin Weird Cultural that I have been mourning for the last decade. Their checkout is fully automated. This way their staff can fully focus on your food, and getting it out, within 5 minutes. I have been accustomed to paying extra for bare minimum, so I ordered extra cream cheese on my bagel.... Holy cow, I feel like a spoiled king 👑. Today I got plain boring bagels with spreads. I guarantee you, I am coming back and trying something new each time. Looking at the summer seasonal menu; what was I thinking?!? Watermelon mint frescas?!? And street corn cream cheese?!? Count me in! Best of all. My 3 year old is ASD level two. They were vibing to the deep base house music and natural lighting. This atmosphere is perfect for us, and our sensory needs. Well done Nervous Charlie. I have a new favorite breakfast place... And... It's local. Now I can be guilt free too. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🩶🤍🩷

just ate here and had a great time! the variety of options on the menu made it hard for me to pick what to get, but i settled on the pastrami hash sandwich with an everything bagel. i can’t emphasize how good everything sounded, though… my boyfriend got the lox sandwich with an onion bagel, which he was also excited for! one thing i think is worth pointing out is that there’s a LOT of opportunities for addition and substitution. you could add a multitude of things to your bagel sandwich if you want! and if you don’t want something, you could take it off or swap it! i just thought that that was nice. the sandwiches were SO good, oh my goodness! i actually ate mine maybe too quickly, but i just couldn’t help myself. my boyfriend also loved his! i’m from new jersey, so i know a good bagel— and this passed the test for SURE. sooo delicious. overall, we had a great experience here! pretty quick service, yummy food, and great atmosphere. highly recommend!

If you’re vegetarian or vegan, be careful with this place. I found a piece of meat in my bagel. This is the first time I’ve experienced such negligence, and it’s honestly disgusting. It seems like they may have started preparing a meat bagel, then realized I ordered a classic egg and cheese without any meat. Instead of using a new bagel, they probably thought it wouldn’t matter, the customer don't get it and just used the same one anyway. I will never eat here again. It’s not hard to respect people’s dietary choices. I’m really disappointed. Check the other comments, they've done this before. People have reported issues with cross-contamination, and even the manager said, “there’s bacon flying everywhere.” If you’re careful about your dietary restrictions for ethical or personal reasons, you should definitely avoid this place.

I felt a sense of relief excitement walking into Nervous Charlie’s Bagels. Maybe it was the frozen ground or the cool brisk air but that didn’t matter because I had this delicious bagel toasted to perfection in my lap. The bagel was impressive, even being miles and miles away from where bagels run the world. In between my everything bagel was a warm, egg, melted cheese and bacon also cooked to perfection cut in half and wrapped in foil to keep all the love inside. Def a good bagel spot!!!

Had heard rave reviews from my daughter and her friends who frequent regularly and was excited to try. Was sadly very underwhelmed. Took a bite of her Longhorn on an Everything bagel with bacon and the seeds on the bagel were burnt and honestly the sandwich was nothing special. I got the pastrami hash on sesame and did not care much for it either - the hash was under-seasoned which may be bec pastrami is salty but there was too little pastrami and too much pickled jalapeno which just overpowered the whole sandwich. I honestly didn’t even check if there was cheese bec I didn’t taste it. Servers were extremely nice though, and efficiently worked through the wall-to-wall Saturday morning crowd. And it sure was packed (we probably waited 20+ mins) which also made for a loud and claustrophobic meal, so we took it to go instead. If I ever return, I think I’ll just get a bagel and cream cheese bec the sandwiches were just sadly, a let down, especially for the $12/sandwich price tag. Lots of other breakfast and brunch places in town with far better food and value.
